In the US and Canada, SmartLayer is available exclusively through Steelcase and its dealer network — specified, ordered and supported through the channel you already know.
Furniture dealers
Order and quote SmartLayer through the Steelcase channel you already use. It ships as a plug-and-play kit that fits new or existing glass, with a lead time of around four weeks — no separate glazing contract required.

Specify SmartLayer through Steelcase on your next healthcare, workplace or education project. It’s a UL-listed, retrofit-friendly privacy layer that pairs with Steelcase architectural walls such as Everwall and V.I.A.

Proven at Houston Methodist Cypress
When Houston Methodist opened its ninth hospital campus in Cypress, Texas in March 2025 — a 570,000-square-foot, $685 million facility — SmartLayer went into 41 emergency and ICU rooms, with 164 switchable panels in place of traditional privacy curtains. The project was designed by architecture firm Page and delivered through Steelcase dealer McCoy Rockford.
In a setting where studies have found more than 40% of privacy curtains become contaminated, switchable glass gives clinicians instant privacy and a surface that wipes clean — and it defaults to opaque if power is ever lost.
